Firstly (as illustrated left) click on the windows start button (usually
at the bottom left of the screen) and move to Settings -> Control Panel
and then left mouse click.
Next double click on Display. (The first icon on the second line in
this example)
Now the display properties window should be displayed. Select the Settings tab. Within the colour palette section select High Colour 16 bit (or True Colour 32 bit if you prefer). Within the Desktop area section move the slider to the 800 by 600 pixels position. Finally click on OK or Apply. You may need to restart the computer to make the new settings come into effect.
